In discussion late last night among linguists who are both Canadian and
American the expression to 'take up an exam' came up (sorry...)
Are readers here familiar with the sense 'go over an exam after it has
been returned to explain the correct answers'? It was the sense of some
of us that the term is exclusively Canadian, perhaps limited to one or
two provinces. I couldn't find the expression in the archives (at least
the ones searchable via Linguistlist)
