OED has something resembling this from 1588 - but nothing since, esp. in the
  um-romantic sense.

  1793 _Jack Sprit-Sail’s Frolic: or, Sailors’ Humorous Cruize; in the Latitude of London_ (London: J. Roach)  11: Those cullies who were ambitious of a cut of a loaf already pretty well sliced, retired with their acquaintance to their lady's apartments.
