In the press conference after yesterday's Presidents [no apostrophe
in the Boston Globe] Cup matches, speaking about his falling into the
water attempting a shot, Woody Austin said "I probably just drowned
the rat and came out fresh as a daisy."

Anything beyond the literal in this?
