Successfully upgrading from the _Yale Alumni Magazine_, Fred Shapiro has an article in the new issue of _The Alcalde_, alumni magazine of The University of Texas. It's on famous sayings by notable Texas alumni (Sam Rayburn, Tom Clark, Ramsey Clark, Barbara Jordan, Ann Richards, William Bennett, John Coetzee, Walter Cronkite, Janis Joplin, Tom Jones [librettist of _The Fantastics_], J. Frank Dobie, and a few others)--sayings of greater profundity and eloquence than ones spoken by individuals educated elsewhere (except for William Bennett's).
