I was surprised to read about a pig eating a baby in the cradle. In
Chinese, the written character for "home" consists of the picture of a pig
(now altered from its original form) under a roof. L. Wieger's book
_Chinese Characters_ (p. 173) explains: "The pigs live around the houses of
the Chinese countrymen, and even enter in them, as well as the dogs. ..."

Maybe the pigs in China are tamer.
