Actually, I just realized I've been seeing a bunch of commercials
featuring the now standard emphemism, COPD, for, I am reliably
informed, Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease.  Technically,
emphysema is a *type* of COPD, but I would guess that essentially
COPD is to emphysema what ED is to impotence.
