"laden-incentive"

 From the Boston Globe, today, Sports section, first page, "Inside" column:

A comebacker
Sox retain Wakefield, signing him to a two-year, laden-incentive deal.

Should I be surprised the headline doesn't read "A back-comer"?  Or
was "laden-incentive" influenced by Wakefield being a pitcher-screwball?

Is there a high-falutin' term for this kind of error?
