Michael Miscione, the Manhattan Borough Historian, has sent about a message linking to a recording which may interest those of you who delight in regional accents.
Ms. Edith McGinnis was appointed the first Manhattan Borough Historian by Manhattan Borough President Robert F. Wagner, Jr. in 1950. She served to 1965. In the ‘50s Ms. McGinnis hosted a 20-minute history quiz show for NYC students on WNYE Radio titled “Know Your City.” The program was well regarded and won several awards. [adapted from Miscione's message]

There is in the NYC Archives a recording from this show, originally aired on February 9, 1954, featuring a well-prepared bunch of school children.
