Tiger

What interests me most about this subject is why his parents (or was it just the father?) selected the name "Tiger" for him.  This is after all a 600 pound ferocious, predatory animal. Was the name a prediction, or perhaps a wish, that the son (Tiger Woods) would destroy all his opponents in a future golf career with the same finality as a tiger attacking and killing its prey?
