One might also look for the following (I prefer the variation below),
also attributed to Parker and said to be on cocktail napkins at the
Algonquin,  One GB hit associates it with the New Yorker.

l do like a dry martini,
Two at the very most.
With three, I'm under the table.
With four, I'm under the host!

I leave it to others how early this can be found.
