It was only a joke, honest guv, only a joke ...

Or so I thought, till I Searched for "Margate" on the Kent Police Website.

In their own words:

<<

Kent Police is clamping down on motorists in Margate who are abusing the
pedestrian zone at the top end of Margate High Street.

No vehicles are allowed to drive through the top end of the High Street on
any day of the week between 10am and 4pm. There are no exceptions to the
rule, and any motorists breaking this rule, including disabled badge holders
and lorry or van drivers making deliveries, could face a £30 penalty.

Anyone wishing to make deliveries or to drive through to access shops or
banks must do so and be clear of the zone before 10am or after 4pm.
