Up in Buffalo, where I was for grade school, War of 1812 is BIG in the
curriculum. This is one of those things where curriculum can vary quite
a bit from region to region. My kids here in Massachusetts didn't get as
much coverage.

I'm very much looking forward to the bicentennial. I plan to try to
invade my friends in Canada in honor of it. :-)
