in double French

Ah, yes, I remember it well. The dreaded daytime class schedule of my
English grammar-school youth, in which we traipsed from classroom to
laboratory to classroom every 40 minutes to meet yet another specialist
teacher on his home turf (single-sex school, no women anywhere apart from
the school nurse). The unhappiness was doubled when two successive periods
(classes) were put together with the same teacher to make a double period.
Double maths was torture for some, double chemistry or physics for others.
Oddly enough, I don't remember double French.
