Conjectural only: "ginch" = "small piece" (Scots): in Wright's EDD
(Banff) and Warrack's "Scots Dialect Dictionary".

(Cf. "gunch" = "big piece".)

I think the earlier citations seem compatible with a non-obscene usage:
perhaps comparable to "piece of fluff/skirt/etc.".
