patty: a bit of linguistic bureaucratic procrusteanism

I learn from
http://torontoist.com/2011/02/historicist_the_toronto_patty_wars.php
that in 1985 in Toronto, sellers of Jamaican beef patties were
required by federal inspectors to stop calling their products (which
had been sold in Toronto under that name since the 1960s and in
Jamaica for a couple of centuries) "beef patties," because the
federal regulatory definition of "beef patty" was entirely
hamburger-centric.
