Macquarie Dictionary (Australia) has opened up its WOTY voting in the
usual variety of categories. Nominees follow below -- click on the

Smart money for the overall winner is probably on "vuvuzela," but I'm
most intrigued by "mamil," an acronym for "middle-aged men in lycra."
(Def: "a man who takes up cycling as a pursuit during middle age,
especially one who makes this a lifestyle statement by acquiring the
accoutrements of a professional cyclist such as the most modern and
powerful form of bicycle, lycra clothing, etc.")
