Antedatings of "Taco" (UNCLASSIFIED)

1850s for tamales sounds exactly right. I've got a couple of sources
from the period, although technical difficulties are preventing me
from posting them. But I do want to drop a clue--a couple of
variations on the spelling may aid in the  search, specifically,
"tamal" and "tamaules", which are the only spellings to appear in the
1859 Dictionary of Americanisms. My actual difficulty is more in
access to the OED than anything else (need to find my library card to
enter the code). Otherwise, everything is just fine, actually.
