dead ringer; manyerisms

An attorney on TruTv today characterized Casey Anthony's acquittal as "a
dead ringer for the defense."

It clearly means "complete victory," presumably because the speaker is
thinking of horseshoes or quoits or ringing the bell or something.

A caller from Iowa observed that Casey exhibits many of the same
"manyerisms" as the convicted  killer Scott Peterson.
