Q: Quote from "Milestones in the History of English in America"

If anyone has "Milestones in the History of
English in America", by Allen Walker Read and
Richard W. Bailey (Duke Univ. Press, 2002), could
they complete the following excerpt allegedly from page 57 for me?

"Stuart very promptly replied, "Sir, I can better
tell you where I did not learn it ­ it was not
from your dictionary." Johnson seemed aware of
his own abruptness, and was not offended.
[Charles Fraser, the miniature painter of South Carolina, quoted ..."

I am interested if this continues on to cite a
specific work.  (And I hope it is not William
Dunlap, but someone earlier, or Fraser himself.)
