A CNN commentator observes that "Dick Cheney...hinted that maybe Hillary
Clinton should primary-challenge the President for the Democratic
nomination."

Like "user-friendly" (the first I can recall noticing)  this takes the two
most salient words in a phrase ("challenge in the primary elections" and
"friendly to the user") and whips them up into a new compound.
