I was surprised to see "up the yin-yang" not in the OED or the AHD.

The earliest cite I see on Google Books is 1976.

And Chicagol For all their fidelity to outdated pop, these Kander-Ebb songs did their dramatic duty up the yin-yang.

I think this is a well established expression, though probably best considered informal or slang.
