As I lay tossing and turning, last night, in the throes of my usual
insomnia, it came to me that I had gone off semi-penises on this
point. After all, those people who spell _laptop_ as "labtop" do that
because that's how they hear the word pronounced, despite seeing the
word *in print* for years spelled only as "laptop." And they likewise
are apparently unconcerned as to what meaning _labtop_ may have that
necessitates distinguishing it from the _laptop_ that they continue to
see / that they still be seeing in print.
