Possible Antedating of "Bebop"

This was meant for all, but it seems to have gone to George alone:

The  possibly apocryphal version I recall has Gillespie saying, "The rhythm
of most music is 'be-BOP be-Bop.' But now it's 'BE-bop BE-bop.'"

Later it became "A wop bop a loo bop, a lop bam boom!"

It devolved from there.
