Siri-ous problem with creaky voice

Moral of story - The more standardized your accent the better.  Thus teachers should teach Englsih to a standard for optimum utility, not to some lax "lingua franca" close-enough standard.

"Glottal fry is particularly common in the young 20-30 year olds. It makes them difficult to be understood on the telephone also. Did you know that Siri (iPhone 4S) cannot understand the glottal fry/vocal fry voice? She can be a source of excellent feedback for those who cannot communicate with her! They have to modify their voice to be understood! :-)"
 
Glotal fry (vocal fry) = creaky voice, especially associated with California young ladies.
