Sensational Claim About OED

There is a new book making what, at least in the staid world of dictionaries, seem to be sensational claims about the OED.  Jesse, can you give us a read on whether there is validity to these claims?

My understanding was that the revisions of the OED do not delete words, or maybe even citations.
