What can you do? The NYT:

"… any other slave in the South but _she_ could find freedom …"

A computer glitch, right? Surely, a person sufficiently literarily
aware to write "any *other* slave" and not simply "any slave" would
never write "but *she*" where _but_ is the preposition and not the
conjunction, right?
