Negative . . .

In Jo Nesbo's 2008 novel _Headhunters_, as translated by Don Bartlett (Random House, 2011), appears this superfluous negative construction:  ". . . the transmitters were so small that their signals were too weak not to penetrate any matter denser than air . . ." (p. 95).

Like all of Nesbo's novels (as translated from the Norwegian by Bartlett), the book is generally well-written, and it seems to be carefully copy-edited.
