Jon Gnarr was born Jón Gunnar Kristinsson. He legally changed his middle
name, but was not permitted by Icelandic law to officially drop the
patronymic. He goes by Jon Gnarr.

He is a professional comedian and ran for office as part of the Best Party,
a satiric political party. He never expected to win, but anti-government
sentiment in the wake of the 2008 financial crisis put him into office.
