New to me--"kiss 'n' cry"

at least as a noun:

"The kiss-'n'-cry", for the area just off-ice where the skaters recover, in tears, from their efforts, whether successful or un-, with the support of friends, teammates, whoever...

(of the four-time world champion German pair Szolkowy and Savchenko, just before they went onto the ice tonight:)

"It was in Vancouver, when they were favored to win the gold medal, that they sat in the kiss-'n'-cry, realized they had won bronze, and vowed to come back in Sochi in four years"

(Spoiler alert…

…they didn't win gold, but "they went down swinging" even after "their dream was shattered", and they did medal--or, as we now say, they did podium, with bronze once again. Much kissing and crying all around.
