Thanks Stephen for pointing to Erin McKean's great article in the New
York Times about the postage stamp story and the larger topic of

Glad that the NYT found a knowledgeable person with an entertaining
tale of direct experience. Erin ends her article perfectly with a
lovely twist on a statement that is often misattributed to Maya
Angelou:

Erin's version: They may forget who said it - but they will never
forget how it made them feel

Common version: They may forget what you said, but they will never
forget how you made them feel.
