1: In an obituary in yesterday's (Sunday's) NYTimes:
"“A gentleman,” a widely repeated anonymous quotation has it, “is a man who
can play the accordion but doesn’t.”"
This isn't in YBQ.

Meanwhile, whenever my father had occasion to speak of an accordion -- not
a frequent occurrence, of course -- he referred to it as "a tenement house
disturber".
This isn't in Jonathon Green's dictionary of slang.
