1738 Gentleman’s Magazine October 545. 
Monday 9. Was a great Disturbance at the New Theatre ...where some French Players ... attempting to act the Comedy of L’Embarras desRiches, met with such rude Treatment, and were so interrupted with hissing,catcalling, ringing small Bells, knocking out the Candles, pelting, &c. ...that they were forced to quit the Stage with Precipitation.
