TBILISI, Georgia — Escaped lions, tigers, bears,and a hippopotamus from the Tbilisi Zoo were roaming the streets of theGeorgian capital Sunday, after flooding killed at least 12 people.

Apparently zoo spokeswoman Mzia Sharashidze is not intimately familiar with the iconic source.  Her list of significant beasts was "tigers, hyenas, and eight lions" (as she is paraphrased in the article).  Was Birnbaum's sequence influenced by some childhood memory?
