I don't know whether the use of apostrophes in plurals of acronyms & initialisms is "usual", but it's common--at least here in Los Angeles, where I see it frequently, and I correct it whenever it is within my authority to do so.

And don't get me started on apostrophes in plurals in general, or in possessives that don't need them (e.g. its). All these usages may be "usual", or at least common, especially here in Los Angeles. But they're standard English yet-- or I hope not.

I saw a van that had painted on its side and rear:
	 "Plumbing at it's best".
It doesn't have that apostrophe anymore. And nobody repainted it.
