A linguist friend of mine reported hearing a young girl in a clothing store say, "I want a pitch-white dress".

My son when he was around five decided that the appliance in the laundry room, by analogy with the dryer next to it, had to be the "wetter".  He also had his own term for diarrhea: "water poop".
