[Ads-l] Can't figger why

Lately I've heard the word "figure" pronounced as ~figer instead of ~figyer.  Can't figger out why.


Also I've heard for "either" ~iether (eye-ther) many times instead of ~eether.  My 11-year old grandson said ~iether yesterday.  It's always been ~eether for me.  Any data on the frequency of pronunciation on that?  Bert Vaux's data doe not address it.
