 1791:   Alai Ibn Abi Bakr, Burhan al-Dain, al-Marghainanai.   _The hedaya, or guide: A commentary on the Mussulman laws: translated  . . . by Charles Hamilton._   2:140 (footnote, glossing the phrase "the sacred injunction concerning war").  "Meaning the _Jihad Farz_, or _ordained war_, enjoined, in various passages of the _Koran_, to be waged against infidels. It is termed, by some, _the HOLY war_.   (diacritical marks omitted).
