Do we need to call this abstract-nominalized "bold"?  property-nominalized "bold"?  Nominalization of adjectives for plural reference to those possessing the property is a staider matter:  

"None but the brave deserve the fair"
"The poor ye always have with you"
"The rich are different from you and me"
"the blind leading the blind"
etc.
