Have you ever noticed that some speakers pronounce this word as "be yond,"
in accord with the spelling, whereas other speakers pronounce it as "be
ʔond," with a glottal stop, instead.

As far as I can tell, this distinction is not conditioned by anything. Some
people use the one and other people use the other, without regard to race,
creed, color, previous condition of servitude, dialect, place of residence,
or anything else.
