Seems to me, Hispanics (with native fluency in English) in the news are
pointedly pronouncing <Mexico> as [MEH-ee-co] (glottal stop replacing velar
fricative), in discussions of Trump's wall.  Inserting "Me'ico" in the
middle of an English sentence comes across as a Poncho Villa-esque
flourish, reminiscent of  a Mel Blanc routine. "Sierra Madre! We don't need
no stinking walls!"
