I, in fact, prefer "AWrif-fiss-iz," < French _orifices_ < Latin pl.
_orificia_, not _*orifex_, pl. _*orifices_. I also prefer "PRAH-sess-iz."

However, my intuition is that those who say "PRAH-seh-seez" and
"AH-rif-fi-seez" most likely don’t care about my preferences, more’s the
pity. <sigh!>

That was my first "AH-rif-fi-seez," but I’ve been hearing "PRAH-seh-seez"
since the ’70’s.
