1. About “gearhead,” the online Oxford English Dictionaries says:

https://en.oxforddictionaries.com/definition/gearhead <https://en.oxforddictionaries.com/definition/gearhead>

A person who is very interested in cars.

Example sentence:
‘The gearheads that race bikes are constantly changing something, tweaking a little here or there, looking to get more power out of their bikes.’

To be fair, the definition of “car” includes road vehicles that don’t have four wheels, but I doubt that “a small number of people” would make that work for a motorcycle:

A road vehicle, typically with four wheels, powered by an internal combustion engine and able to carry a small number of people:

2. There is a Facebook group called “Godless Gearheads” and its description says:

… Whether it's a motorcycle, car, truck, atv or plane there's an open bay with a lift to get your hands dirty here.

3. Wiktionary says:

An enthusiast for new technology, or for motoring.
