This is strictly off the top of my head, as I haven't looked, but I suspect
"poo" is the default UK pronunciation/spelling variant -- my idiolect tends to
register: "Pick up that poo, you dumb bunny!"

[At least if I'm addressing a Lab.  I would be more cautious making such an
observation to an Alsatian -- or should I say, "German Shepherd"?]

Whereas (there's an SF novel that turns on this) US American has a Sooper Dooper
Pooper Snooper.
