If anyone is interested, I put together a blog post about another topic that was discussed here recently.


"The best thing since sliced bread."


I don't think I found anything earlier or significantly different from what was discussed here earlier this months, but I added some detail to the early history of sliced bread, traced the history of "best thing since" advertising (it's very old), show a very early sliced bread advertisement calling it "the greatest innovation since wrapped bread," the history of advances in baking (more butter, double loaves, brown-n-serve rolls) being advertised as the "best thing since sliced bread", showed that "the best thing since [insert funny/ironic/surprising thing here]" was a thing in 1949 and later, and "the best thing since sliced bread" first shows up regularly in 1951.   I saw one, isolated instance of a calking gun advertised as the "best (or something to that effect thing since sliced bread" in 1947.
