Today, as Google reminds us, is Virginia Apgar’s birthday (not that she’s celebrating it, having died in 1974). She developed the now widely used Apgar score to diagnose the health of newborn babies.  The backronym is described as follows (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Apgar_score).

"The resulting Apgar score ranges from zero to 10. The five criteria are summarized using words chosen to form a backronym (Appearance, Pulse, Grimace, Activity, Respiration).”
