The Berkeley list of non-gender-specific replacement words suggests:
Journeyman - Journey

The website Writing Help Central has a long list of "Gender-Neutral
Equivalent Words" including the following:
http://www.writinghelp-central.com/gender-neutral.html
journeyman - experienced tradesperson

The website thesaurus.com lists the following clusters of synonyms:
https://www.thesaurus.com/browse/journeyman?s=t

artisan, craftsman, tradesman, worker

artisan, machinist, maker, manufacturer, master, mechanic, skilled
worker, smith, specialist, technician, wright

I think "journeyer" would fit although it would be necessary to add a new sense.
