I remain skeptical. The term has usually referred to two bullets in the
head, and it's been used frequently in action movies and TV shows (crime,
spy, military) since at least the late 1980s, which is when (and whence) I
learned it, though I couldn't tell you which particular show it was.
Something like "a professional-looking hit" was also said by one of the
fictional investigators.
