Some years back I sent Jesse  a note that the American Periodical Series
database reveals a Captain "Paluker" in charge of the brig _Henry_ in
1823.

Now:

1886 San Antonio Light (Feb. 10) 1: F. Palooka, a baker, went gunning after
rats with a shot gun, was...fined $5.

1886 Chicago Daily Inter-Ocean  (Nov. 28) 16:  MARRIAGE LICENSES ... Frank
Zimauze, 30 Chicago / Lidmila Palouka, 24 Same.
