provides the following information about Lorenzo Dow Turner: "Born in
Elizabeth City, North Carolina on August 21, 1890." The author thanks
Margaret Wade Lewis, among others, for "editorial assistance." I
mention this because Lewis is the biographer of Turner and has done
extensive research on his life since the 1980s, as I remember. I think
she would have the date correct. For your entry, please note that the
first name is "Lorenzo," with "n" before "z." Here's the link to the
site, though I accessed it by googling the linguist's full name:
