The Department of Linguistics at Memorial University, in partnership with the Labrador Institute, seeks to recruit and nominate an accomplished scholar for a Canada Research Chair (Tier 2) in Change, Adaptation, and Revitalization of Aboriginal Languages. In response to the increasing rate of disappearance of small-scale languages, the Chair will engage in community-partnered research activities, with a principal focus being the creation of corpora of primary data. The successful candidate will hold a Ph.D. in Linguistics and have an excellent publication record. The Canada Research Chairs program stands at the centre of a national strategy to make Canada one of the world’s top countries in research and development. The Tier 2 Chairship is for 5 years, renewable once for a further 5 years. The appointment will be at the level of Assistant Professor or Associate Professor. The position is expected to commence July 2017. Le Département de linguistique de l'Université Memorial, en partenariat avec le Labrador Institute, vise à engager un universitaire accompli dans le cadre d'une Chaire de recherche du Canada (niveau 2) spécialisée dans l'évolution, l'adaptation, et la revitalisation des langues autochtones. En réponse au rythme accéléré de disparition de langues minoritaires, le/la titulaire de la Chaire s'engagera dans des activités de recherche au sein de communautés partenaires, avec comme but principal la création de corpus de données primaires. Le/la candidat(e) doit détenir un doctorat en linguistique ainsi qu'un excellent dossier de publications. Le programme de Chaires de recherche du Canada est au coeur d'une stratégie nationale visant à situer le Canada parmi les meilleurs pays du monde en recherche et développement. Les Chaires de recherche du Canada de niveau 2 sont d'une durée de cinq ans et renouvelables pour cinq années additionnelles. Le poste sera attribué au niveau de professeur adjoint ou agrégé, avec date de commencement prévue pour juillet 2017.
